Seriously, who gives a rat about the royal wedding?

I was actually shocked that people seem to care about this wedding! Are we seriously moving backwards and embracing monarchy/royalty/elitism again? I refuse to even use the word "royal" anymore, because it should mean absolutely nothing in this day and age. I just don't get it at all, and I was really not expecting people to get all excited about a meaningless couple.
