Moving birds to grandparent's house?

I have 2 parakeets, and we are going on vacation for a little while. My grandma is watching them, and she used to have parakeets, so she has experience. How can i move them to her house without scaring them. By the way, they are both 1 year olds. Is it safe to just keep them in the cage and hold the cage so that it doesnt shake/rattle(because of all the bumps on the roads). Also, the drive is about 15-30 minute drive.PLZ help!
